The chronologer of vintage photography and style, Retronaut, features a selection from the catalogue of RM Auction Houses of Florida of these exquisite so-called automobile mascots produced by Lalique from 1925 to 1932. I suppose this exceedingly rare series could not quite qualify as hood ornaments, as I think none would have weathered the elements or traffic so well, but maybe as dashboard ornaments, they were the more elegant predecessors of nodding-headed figures and fuzzy dice.
