.: Bronze Statue "Ivresse" by Guerbe for Max Le Verrier :.
Fayral and Guerbe were 2 pseudonyms used by the famous Pierre Le
Faguays. Fayral and Guerbe were both the family names for his mother and
wife. Pierre Le Faguays was born in Nantes, France and became famous
for the originality he gave his dancers, many of which were inspired by
the statues of Tanagra. Like Chiparus, Faguays' sculptures did a great
deal for perpetuating the 1920s version of the ideal female form - all
lithe athleticism with nimph like physiques. He gained a medal of honour for his work in 1927. He was a best
friend of Max Le Verrier and the Le Verrier foundry made most of - if
not all of his pieces. For collectors original works by Faguays command high fees and
his work really embodies the 1920s aesthetic.

.: Beer-Warmers by WMF :.
When I first saw these vintage nickel-silver cylinders from WMF, I thought they were some sort of special test tubes from a mad scientist’s laboratory. These metal canisters, however, are like thermoses and would be filled with water and kept aside in a warm bath to be on hand and ready to warm a customer's beer.
Beer ought to be enjoyed just below room temperature and apparently there was enough cold beer and enough particular customers to create a demand for such fancy and fussy things. The pair bear the older mark WÜRTT[EMBERGISHER] METALLW[ARE] FABRIK GEISLINGEN-STEIGE NS (for Nickel-Silver) with a WMF impress and a 3.6. A third chrome beer-warmer is in the background for illustration purposes, to show how they would hang on the brim of the mug. and not get in the way of one's enjoyment.
.: Coffee Grinder by "ELKA" :.
We've just bought an old coffee grinder. It's supposed to be from the
1930's and is produced by "Elka Mühlenbau" in Hamburg, Germany. It's a
model used to grind whole bags of coffee at once. The former owner told us, that his grandfather used it in his little shop for many years. The model is called NE0. If
anybody knows a little more about this steady old grinder and factory, just leave a comment.

.: Metropolis (1927) by Fritz Lang :.
Metropolis is a 1927 German expressionist film in the science-fiction genre directed by Fritz Lang. It´s set in a futuristic urban dystopia and makes use of this context to explore the social crisis between workers and owners inherent in capitalism. The film was produced in the Babelsberg Studios by Universum Film A.G. (UFA). Metropolis was cut substantially after its German premiere,
and much footage was lost over the passage of successive decades. There
have been several efforts to restore it, as well as discoveries of
previously lost footage. A 2001 reconstruction of Metropolis, shown at the Berlin Film Festival, was inscribed on UNESCO's Memory of the World Register in that same year.
In 2008, a copy of the film 30 minutes longer than any other known
surviving copy was located in Argentina. After a long period of
restoration in Germany, the restored film was shown publicly for the
first time simultaneously at Berlin and Frankfurt on 12 February 2010. Today, Metropolis is widely regarded as one of the greatest films ever made, and Lang's finest achievement as a director. (source: Wikipedia)
